Trump posts video accusing Google of not promoting his State of the Union address

In a really odd move, President Trump has continued attacking Google for alleged bias against him by posting a 24-second video that purports that Google promoted President Obama’s State of the Union addresses on its homepage every year but stopped the State of the Union promotion when Trump took office.

It’s not clear if the president or the president’s staff came up with the idea, or if Trump simply found it online and uploaded it himself to Twitter. As CNBC points out, Google did, in fact, promote President Obama’s State of the Union addresses on its homepage between 2012 and 2016. The company also confirms it did not promote Trump’s 2017 inaugural speech on its homepage because it was not technically a State of the Union address. Similarly, Google says it did not promote President Obama’s 2009 inaugural speech on its homepage because that too was not technically a State of the Union address.

And as a Twitter user pointed out, a Wayback Machine screen grab of Google’s homepage shows the company did indeed promote President Trump’s 2018 State of the Union address.

Google: 1, Trump: 0.
